If so, you’re not alone. I often hear this from the couples I work with – that all too familiar sense of resentment emerging as one partner vents about just how much they do on a regular basis - from cooking to kids stuff to planning trips.
It might be tempting to say or think: “It’s not fair!” - which only compounds the resentment.
Just like you might have weekly meetings with your manager or various team members at your workplace to create more efficiency and communication, it’s just as important to make time for a weekly check in with your partner.
The tide comes in. The tide goes out. You inhale. You exhale. The sun rises. The sun sets. Expansion. Contraction.
Relationships also have a rhythm. You feel close and connected and then distant and alone. This is the rhythm of life, yet most of us resist the rhythm.
Her response was to take better care of herself, so she didn’t miss out on the fun. But she still mused over the fact that if he took better care of himself, they’d have less conflict in their marriage.
