sexy logistics

Ever get frustrated with your partner?

Maybe they haven’t acknowledged that you are the only one who ever does the food shopping - and so you feel under-appreciated.

Maybe they never ask about all the little things you do - and so you feel like a lone wolf, constantly planning and strategizing.

Or - Maybe they don’t keep you in the loop with all of their stuff - and so you feel left out.

It’s common in most relationships for one person to take over the planning.

Take my partner Chris and I, for example -

We have different roles in the house. I’m the CEO and COO (execution and operations), so basically, I make everything run smoothly in the house. He’s the CFO and CTO, handling all of our finances and tech. When I’m cleaning the whole kitchen while on the phone with customer service and trying to plan summer camp -- it’s easy for me to feel frustrated and alone when he’s on the couch reading Reddit or sending work emails.

He’s still doing his job and I’m doing mine, but in the moment we’re not aware of each other and so we feel like we are on different pages. Inevitably, distance is created.

Like I mentioned in my recent feature in People Magazine on How to Support Your Partner Through Continually Uncertain Times, scheduling weekly meetings with your partner is a great way to avoid this.

And today I want to introduce you to a special kind of weekly meeting:

The “Sexy Logistics Talk.”

It’s similar yet even more effective than having your weekly meeting at the kitchen table ;)

Here’s how it goes:

You get naked, get in bed together, and then take turns talking about all the planning and logistics that need to be reviewed:

“Should I sign the kids up for camp? Does going skiing feel safe for us? Here’s what’s going on with my work right now…”

Because when you clear your head from all the open tabs, you open yourself up to better communication -- emotionally, spiritually, and even physically -- which may or may not lead to sex. And having sex at the end ISN’T the point, but it could very well happen.

At the least - you both might be more focused. (When we do this, Chris is so motivated to listen because we’re naked: “If I really listen, I might get lucky!”)So here’s your assignment: try out the Sexy Logistics Talk with your partner.

Think of all the things taking up space in your mind. All of the decisions that are on repeat and all the things that you need help with. Write them down so you have them handy. Then get to the bedroom, take off your clothes, and talk it all out.

What happens after that is up to you! I’d love to hear how it goes.

Warmly,

Andrea

p.s. Sharing is caring - please feel free to pass this along!
