he really loves you

A few weeks ago, Chris and I went out with some friends to see the Tom Petty cover band Petty Thief.

As I’m putting in my earplugs, my friend Jillian asks where I got them. I told her Chris got them for me when we came in because the sound was too much for my nervous system.

I felt the truth of her response to my toes. She said, “He really loves you.”

There was something about my friend's ability to see from the outside so clearly what I felt on the inside.

“Yeah, he really does love me.”

I share this not to brag about my husband but to remind us all -

It’s really the tiny gestures that make you feel loved. It’s going out of your way to show kindness, care, protection, and love.

What if we all focused on doing those small, kind, loving gestures for our partners a bit more and a bit more intentionally? How would your relationship feel? What would shift?

Or if you’re someone who feels like you’re always thinking of the little things, and it gets exhausting, maybe it’s about a mindset shift -

What are the things you’re already doing that feel obligatory but actually are tiny acts of love?

Every time you remember to restock the toilet paper (or look over the finances or remember to defrost the chicken), think to yourself, “I really love them.”

Give it a try and see what you notice!

To love in the smallest gestures,
